Merauke, Jubi – The Regional Office of the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) for Papua, West Papua, and Maluku held a public outreach and training program on auction services and regional asset valuation at the South Papua Governor’s Office in Merauke on Thursday.
The event, known as the 2026 Socialization and Education on Auctions (SOLID), was designed to strengthen local governments’ understanding of asset management practices and the valuation mechanisms for regional government-owned assets (Barang Milik Daerah/BMD).
Assistant III for General Administration at the South Papua Regional Secretariat, Alberth A. Rapami, said regional governments have long faced challenges in managing public assets, including a shortage of qualified valuation personnel and the high costs associated with coordinating with agencies outside the region.
According to Rapami, DJKN’s outreach activities and technical guidance programs have helped local administrations develop human resources with the skills required to assess and value government assets.
“We hope this program can continue in the years ahead,” he said.
Rapami expressed hope that similar initiatives would also be expanded to other regencies across South Papua, including Asmat Regency, Boven Digoel Regency, and Mappi Regency, enabling regional governments to manage public assets more independently and professionally.
He also encouraged local administrations to prepare civil servants to fill functional asset valuation positions, noting that demand for professional appraisers will continue to grow as Indonesia advances a bureaucracy increasingly based on specialized functional roles.

Rapami further called on DJKN to maintain its mentoring programs and strengthen communication channels that allow local governments to seek advice and consultation on asset valuation matters more easily.
“On behalf of the South Papua Provincial Government, I would like to express our appreciation to the Head of the Regional Office and all DJKN officials who have provided valuable capacity-building support for regional asset managers in South Papua,” he said. (*)
