Sorong, Jubi – Investigators from Sorong City Police (Polresta Sorong) in Southwest Papua have handed six suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the procurement of uniforms for the Southwest Papua Regional Legislative Council (DPR Papua Barat Daya) to the Sorong District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Sorong), on Monday (May 4, 2026).
The transfer followed the completion of the case files, which were declared complete (P-21). The suspects are identified by their initials as N, JCS, IWK, DJ, ES, and JU.
“All six individuals have been handed over to prosecutors, including a former Council Secretary (Sekwan) identified as JN, along with several staff members within the DPR of Southwest Papua,” Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Polresta Sorong, AKP Afriangga Tan said, when contacted on Monday.
The uniform procurement project had a budget of Rp1 billion, sourced from the 2024 regional budget (APBD). State losses in the case are estimated to exceed Rp700 million.
“Based on audit findings, state losses amount to more than Rp715 million, out of the total contract value of Rp1 billion,” he said.
Investigators have secured a number of pieces of evidence, including contract documents, purchase orders, handover reports, billing documents, and other supporting records.
In addition, police have questioned 16 witnesses, including the suspects. The examinations were conducted intensively to determine the roles of each party involved in the case.
Three of the six suspects are civil servants (ASN), while the other three are from the private sector. (*)
